All-Time BEST Person I have met ingame
*Disclaimer* This is a long story but is definitley something that doesn't happen a lot in GW in regards to peoples attitudes and how they treat others.
Cliffs at bottom
So today I got up and decided to work on my new GW character, I recently restarted on a blank account after taking almost a year long break. I was playing on my level 8 Ele/Me and I was in Ranik. I started looking for a group and spotted a group of 4 and added without thinking to check levels. Turns out it was a group of 20's but 3 of them left and only one joined into my group, naturally I start looking for another group because what level 20 wants to play alone with a level 8. Next thing you know he/she asks me if I'm ready so of course I'm a little shocked but I reply that I am and we get on with the mission. He/she walks through the mission with me killing everything and doing bonus's (not running) and talks back and forth with me along the way. After we finish we do Ruins of Surmia in the same manner and decide to take a break. A few hours later I come back and he/she happened to be on so I messaged them and waited for them to finish running someone and then he/she came back and started doing missions with me again. Between missions he/she would run from the middle towns to the mission towns so we didn't waste the time grinding. In today alone I went from level 8 to level 13 and went from Ranik all the way Divinity Coast (missions AND bonus). He/she did not ask for a dime from me, didn't ask for any of my drops and didn't once hesitate to leave until 1am came across (a few minutes ago) and we decided on a break. He/she said they will be back a little later and will continue to help level/do missions. I not ONCE have come across a person so willing to help out with everything and walk through missions with me and I have DEFINITELY never met a person who would do that and chat pleasantly back and forth while doing it. This is the kind of person that keeps these kinds of games going and inspires the new people to continue playing and relay that same attitude to others. I was simply in awe at how this person treated me without knowing who I was or what my exp. level was in the game. Needless to say when we just stopped for a break I thank the person thoroughly and gave them 10 plat. in thanks and he/she accepted and thanked me for it and you could tell it was not expected. Hopefully this kind of thing has happened to some of you others but I must say it is definitely the best experience I have had playing this game thus far.
Cliff Notes:
Log on to my level 8 ele/mes
Meet a level 20 who plays mission/bonus from fort ranik - divinity coast
I level from 8-13
Person doesn't ask for any kind of money or any of my drops
I give person 10 platinum and kindly thank them for helping me

I've helped someone like that before, its only rare though, and its usually when I'm bored and don't give a crap about what I do.
I'd hesitate to help a lvl 8 so much because when you basically run people through the game they have nothing else to do and think thats how you play the game. Its a story and all too... most people forget that.

I was doing the same thing with a low level mission with 2 people and i got called noob for not knowing how to do the bonus, agro'ed everything around and map-teleport somewhere else leaving them die.
last night i was helping a new player showing him MM necro and some other builds i stood to attack some mobs for cropse and he went nut over the minimap click somewhere else, then said does clicking mean attack?
I told him, i am not working for you moron, i am helping you, you need me i don't need you..
conclusion: helping people is bad, don't do it!!

you just proved yourself to be a total jerk and loser.gg
even if you was helping them, and got called noob, was enough point them it's you who help them and if they no happy u can leave.+ you could leave w/o made them die.
agro all and map out w/o even give them chance complete if w/o u when u leave,...typical moron.
i know newbies and some jerk players can be nooisy and really annoying, especially when it's you who help them.but no need be a even bigger moron and loser than they are, like you did.

An otherwise nice story but this bit confused me.

So it was still the original poster doing all the work, killing everything and doing the bonus, and the other person just kept company along the way.
It seems nice to have someone to pass the time with, but I'm not exactly sure that just giving up some personal time to hang out with someone is worth this much praise.
Or in today's world, where people wallow in selfishness, is this too uncommon not to merit appraisal and lavish adoration? That someone, somewhere, cared against all odds, about someone else?

as i was trying to give away a nice gold sword and shield set to a low level warrior last night in Lion's Arch i met a husband and wife team than had just started the game last week. I ended up adventuring with them for the next 2 hours or so did the galrath quest with them and explored a few other areas...it was a blast and then i gave them the break down on how attribute points and stuff work...as well as gave both of them a nice weapon set. One of them was a wammo setup as a smiting monk...i explained how that wasn't such a good idea...they kept getting owned by the undead.
Anyways it was great...and actually the first time since NF that i have played with a PUG. maybe i should do it more often

The game used to be filled with great people and talking on missions and having fun was common. Back then i enhoyed PUGs, but now its filled with tons of people who just wanna blaze trough everything, don't care to talk witrh you unless its to tell you to do something etc etc. Oh well my heroes are still good to me

One particular guy who stuck in my mind was a lvl 20 warrior who randomly decided to help me with a quest on Sing Jea. It was quite a lenghty quest too so we had a chat while we were randomly killing crimson skull pirates, when we finished he tried to offer me 10 plat to get myself some decent armour.. he wouldn't take no for an answer either nor would he accept anything from me as a thanks.
Apart from that, i'd say most of my friends are the best people i know on GW.

Yeah, Guild Wars has a very nice community if you know where to look.
However, try playing games like GunZ Online. Ego flies everywhere. Once you kill a person, "luck, spam more pl0x, so pro, nice camping, nice spike, wow, what a noob, turtle noob", and lots of other excuses.
Guild Wars is a nice change from GunZ.

JDMYO, true this is not ingame, but YOU are the nicest person I've met today. To take the time to stop everything and come to this forum to sing another person's praises like you did here today is something not very many people do. And to encourage others to do it as well... well it just made my day. Thank you!
I applaud you ...
BRAVO!

i help people a lot, and i enjoy it most of the time,
but i remember when i just beat the game on prophecies on my warrior, i made up a new Soj knockdown warrior build, and went to ascalon to help with some quests,in a few minutes i get a full group of low lvl players and i start running missions and quests for them, and once they saw me using SoJ they starting laughing at me and calling me a noob, i just responded " Then find another runner" and left.
I mean i was helping these guys through 3 missions/bonus's and they laugh at me and make fun of me? There is no dam appreciation in this game.
To this day i give runs, and still get called a noob doing it (while i get masters)
